Armenia is a beautiful country with amazing culture and very kind people. Your overall experience in Armenia will be great but you must need to be very active when it comes to taxi scams. Here is an experience of a users who is get scammed at Yerevan Airport and this taxi scammer us being reported twice by users. Once in Reddit and recently on Facebook.
A man claimed he was a Yandex Go driver and agreed on 2,000 AMD to my hotel. When we arrived, he showed a fake photo with a much higher price around 80$ and started shouting and pressuring us and drove away with our things taking advantage of the fact that we were tired after a long flight.
He was driving a BMW, said he rents it, and my wife managed to record his face and the car.
How to avoid?
Use only the official Yandex Go app / GG or taxi
Never accept rides outside the apps
Don’t trust verbal prices
